When Doctor Oscify exploded onto the burgeoning indie hip-hop scene in 2003, his complex lyrics and unabashedly unique style gained him immediate recognition. In 2006, his album, "Versify", exposed his one of a kind style to a receptive audience as well as wide critical acclaim. He's toured nationally several times and has released seven albums thus far.

Doctor Oscify has become widely known for mind bogglingly intricate rhymes and a syncopated style of delivery that has never been duplicated. To a greater degree, his songs have gained notoreity an innate level of honesty which has allowed his listeners to connect with his sweeping narrative in deeply personal ways. Over the years, Doc has written about everything from the nature of the mind and reality itself, to relationships, to politics, to drug use and effects, all woven in with an unforgettable life story presented in a way which literally drips with raw, unflinching emotion. Doctor Oscify has also recieved attention for a live show which cycles between emotive performances, humorous stage presence, and a sprinkle of outrageousness. His fans will tell you that a Doctor Oscify live show is a must see, although the Doctor himself is more muted. "I basically totally suck at this whole music thing" he tells us, between sips of gas station coffee. We couldn't disagree more.

Born Leo Fairbanks, on April 19, 1985, the young poet endured a difficult childhood and began using music and art as an escapist fantasy as well as tool for self reflection, when no other release from his most sinister demons was available. During his time in high school, Leo experimented with every type of music from punk rock to hip-hop to metal and industrial music. He even spen a short time in a ska band. At the urging of a girlfriend, he released his first rap album, "Time to Operate" in 2003, and his primary musical focus rapidly gravitated towards hip-hop. A year later, it had become apparent that Leo had a real and measurable gift, and by his sophomore year in college, his music was recieving national attention for a street album entitled "Presciption Grade Hip-Hop". In late 2005, Doctor Oscify's profile increased noticably with the release of his "Best of 2005 Mixtape", free copies of which found their way all across the American heartland.

In late 2005, songs Doctor Oscify had done with a German beat producer by the name of Ulliversal came to the attention of G1, CEO of the Detroit based indie label, New Ground Collabo. She suggested that the two artists create a joint album, and in late fall of 2005, Ulliversal and Doctor Oscify formed Versify, signed with the label, and began work on a debut album.
